Sands of Time

Dali called it 'Persistance of Memory'

I call it, the Sands of Time

Exodus! Exodus!

There lie barren sands and swamps...

Melting time, merging space

Life goes on

Here and there...clocks and cuckoos

I stand and stare...

 I watch the watch,

You watch me

Everyone's looking

For an identity.

Pictures speak

A thousand words

Whispering secrets

You and I have never heard

And life moves on

Dreams fade

Into the Sands of Time

Away...Away...

Moments...

A blue and white fire hydrant stands lonely and old,

Staring, in despair, at the dancing leaves of gold.

Naked branches reach out to woolly clouds above,

Swaying in tune to the bells in a distant alcove.

Blond hair swept up by the wind, while slender hips swing,

With the poise of an Australian supermodel or a Swedish king.

Sunlight filters through the dark slanted windows,

Warming the cold white metal stairs and the coiled fire hose.

A stranger wanders, top hat askew,

Reading the chalk writings on the path, as if there were secrets he knew.

I savor these moments like a juicy orange on a cold winter’s day,

There is much to know, much to be learned and so much to say.

A flash of light and the sky turns grey,

Oh! Why does the rain come to take me away?

Lyrics that Link...

Have you ever wondered what life is about?
You could search the world and never figure it out
I've got somewhere I belong, somebody to love
This is what dreams are made of...

Now the time has come to leave you,
One more time let me kiss you
Then close your eyes,
I'll be on my way...

You only see what your eyes want to see
How can life be what you want it to be?
You're so consumed with how much you get,
You waste your time with hate and regret...

Another turning point; a fork stuck in the road.
Time grabs you by the wrists; directs you where to go.
So make the best of this test; and don't ask why.
It's not a question; but a lesson learnt in time...

So when we get the big jobs and make the big money
When we look back now, will the jokes still be funny?
Will we still remember everything we learnt at school?
Still be trying to break every single rule...

Yes, Mr. President, Sir!

The Presidential elections are on tonight and we're just chilling in the lobby and watching the coverage. Everyone is so involved in the politics of their country here. True, only 40% of the population votes as compared to the 60% in India, but elections actually seem like a big deal here unlike back home. Everyone knows how each candidate is going to affect the country and how their policies are going to change the country or even the world. Everyone's been talking about these elections for at least the last month. Nearly, the whole hall is in the lobby watching the coverage. I don't think I've seen so much election enthusiasm in the last 18 years of my life!

Anyhow, while people debate politics and discuss polls on screen, we sit and eat nacho chips and cookies and consume inordinate amounts of soda! Mike's sitting and mutilating a banana, Emil and Kristin are cursing their FYS while Meli's trying really hard to read Jack Canfield! I'm sitting here and observing and blogging! Oh! Mike just moved on to talking to himself on Meli's phone while Meli's trying really hard to figure out who he's talking to. Kristin's completely absorbed in her laptop! So far, Obama's kicking butt and that makes me happy! People are breaking things, dropping things and dirtying things! Amy just came down to talk to me about stuff!! It feels so good to be here! I never feel like an outsider! Oh! Taylor just tried to throw orange soda on me!LOL!

There are so many opinions just floating around. Some people think both candidates are totally hopeless and have that written in bold caps on their whiteboard! Others are diehard Obama fans and are making up songs with lyrics along the lines of F-u McCain!!!And there are others who are strictly conservative and think the country's going to go to hell with Obama in power. And yet, at the end of it all, they're all friends and politics just don't interfere in social life! That's what I find so great about politics in America!!!

Personally, I'm an Obama fan and if i could vote, I would definitely vote for him but maybe I'm not educated enough on the subject but I'm going to be! I've enjoyed the elections so far and this little election party is just the icing on the cake! American politics and American people are so alike, they're both individualistic and idealistic! I'm enjoying this very much!!

Sorry for the abrupt outburst! Hope you enjoyed reading my thoughts!! LOL! Goodnight and have a good day. And here's to a bright American future! Good Luck Senator Obama!!!
